HISTORICAL BACKGROUND

St. Anthony Hospital was founded in 1956 by Mr. and Mrs. Pio Bernas, having realized the need for healthcare facilities in Roxas in the province of Capiz, offered their apartment at San Roque Extension, where the present hospital is located. Here, was the humber begining that eventually saw the rise of the concrete three-storey building.
A relavant responsiveness to the hospital's mission is in the opening of the College in 1958, an initiative that is closely linked with the hospital in term of Vision, Mission, Core Values, policies and practices. The need to form Catholic, dedicated midwives to serve Filipino mother and children, the ederly, and the sick - move the Sister and a group of concerned lay doctors and nurses to initiate the opening of a two-year course leading to Certificate in Midwifery. It must be God's design when trends providentially enriched the   Nursing Course to a  four-year program leading to the Degree - Bachelor of Science in Nursing with the Department of Education, Culture and Sports' approval granted on June 13, 1978, With the approval of two Bachelor's degree courses, St. Anthony School of Nursing and Midwifery and the hospital intergrated with the school was sought to rightfully claim the official name, ST. ANTHONY COLLEGE OF ROXAS CITY, INC., was legally approved by the security and Exchange Commission in 1980.
